Industry Leader
Its no industry secret who sets the standard in cultivating and planting
innovation and technology. The RFM cultivators and planters have led the
way for more than four decades. Built on the four core priinciples of superior
planting, RFM AG GUIDANCE CT PLANTER makes the most of every acre
thanks to;
- Superior Ground Following
- Minimal Maintenance
- Precise Seed Placement
- Versitile Tow Frame design for either towing or linkage
Now with the new GUIDANCE CT PLANTER, RFM delievers incredible
advances in productivity and versitility from all new features that lead the
industry with;
- NEW Controlled Traffic Wheel Centres
- NEW Contourgram Press Wheels
- NEW Ryan DP Series Tyne
- NEW Side Shift Floating Hitch
Together, these all-new features result in a planter that offers industry
leading;
- Precise Seed Placement
- Patented Multi-Purpose Press Wheel
- Dual Purpose Min/No Till Planter
- Ideal Trash Clearance Planter designed on 2 Rows
You'll find innovative and improved features all accross the GUIDANCE CT
PLANTER, for example, we've improved the Ryan Tyne so it can handle
much tougher conditions with a 50mm x 20m shank, and be adaptable to
minimum and no till options with a quick change pin system. Designed
around the patented anti-jar rubber disc for longeivity and less wear and
tear and your equipment.
The GUIDANCE CT PLANTERS frame is designed to three spacings 12",
13 1/3", and 15", with a added feature of a quick change tow A frame to
linkage with as equally as quick change Side Shift for Inter Row Sow without
the wheels moving off the track.
Add to this every RFM AG dealer will support you for reliable service and
parts.
Symplicity and Reliability = More Productivity
For the grower who faces the planting challenge of more acres in an
optimum window, a RFM GUIDANCE CT PLANTER is a productivity
standout that can put your crop in on time everytime.
With the optional quick change double disc for optimum miosture and
stubble retention gives you up 40% more productivity than a standard tyne
planter.
An revolutionary contour following press wheel means you can place your
seed evenly in all conditions. The unique patented spring coil concept
allows the wheel to stay clear of mud and trash build up. The Contourgram
Coil press wheel has special features of working on a angle enabling the
coil wheel to close the furrow when wet or pull chemical back into the side of
the furrow for better weed control, when in a no till operation. This
multi-purpose wheel can also be tilted over to vary the size of the foot print.
The key to greater efficiency of an GUIDANCE CT PLANTER is its 3m
Controlled Traffic Wheel Centres. Designed with a quick change Side Shift
tow frame ensures less compaction, staying on the wheel track even when
moving accross for Inter Row Sowing. Statistics have proven Controlled
Traffic Farming improves plant available water with the top 30cm by up to
90%. Your residue in a No Till operation leaving your stubble standing, has
proven to give you 6% improvement in moisture.
Window Of Opportunity
Its proven seed placement and timig is everything the RFM GUIDANCE CT
PLANTER has to offer, being versitile enough to your diverse seeding
needs.
Whether planting when towing or linkage the specialised wheel and frame
design is purposely designed to optimise seed placement and maximise
productivity. Whether it be the easy change Tyne Spacings, quick change
Inter Row Side Shift, the RFM GUIDANCE CT PLANTER is the logical
planter for the future.
While some manufacturers take a one concept machine does as all
approach. The new Dual Purpose RFM GUIDANCE CT PLANTERS allows
you to be more versitile and efficient for sustainable farming. Planting at
optimum speeds with either disc or tyne providing you with greater savings.
You demand more from your planter, after four decades of bringing you the

Tynes Vs Discs Extract from the The Land newspaper May 3rd 2007
Riverina farmers, Bruce and Ian Armstrong have neatly side-stepped the "discs
versus tynes" debate by modifying their planter to take either.
The brother have combined the best of both worlds by developing a set of twin-disc
coulters that can be interchanged with the original tynes on their six metre RFM
airseeder.
The adaption has given them the flexibility to choose the most appropriate ground
engaging gear to sut the conditions at the time on their 600-hectare Wagga Wagga
farm, Glenwood Park", or when they are on contract sowing on farms thoughout the
district.
Bruce Armstrong said the relatively easy task of switching the machine over from
discs to tynes, and vice versa, usually took about three hours.
The twin-disc units, which were custom-made at Wagga Wagga, simply attach to
the machine's existing tyne heads.
"The tynes on the RFM are only fixed into the tyne heads by two locating bolts, so we
removed those and designed a tyne leg that fits in place of the tyne", he said.
"The bottom of the tyne leg is engineered to hold one plain and one scolloped disc
at the appropriate angles".
Mr Armstrong said the adaption cost much less than a fully fledged, disced
machine.
"Similar twin discs on parallelograms to buy off the shelf would be at least $1100 per
unit whereas these fully finished and painted have cost us about $590 each," he said
. The other big advantage of the low cost draft, disc option has been in fuel savings
with the Armstrongs cutting their fuel usage from 3.5 litres/hectare to 1.91/ha.
Mr Armstrong said they tended to use the disc option in heavy stubble conditions or
on erosion-prone, sloping country where it was important to minimise soil
disturbance. Discs were also preferred in stoney country where they were less likely
than tynes to pull up rocks.
Mr Armstrong said tynes had intregal part to play in wet conditons or in contract
farming situations where there were conventional fallows.
"And tynes are always going to be plan B if there is a need to incorprate chemical
because disc units only provide minimal soil disturbance and don't incorporate
chemical as well," he said.
